Level up! 750 posts.

As a RPG gamer, I always think that the first few levels are intentionally easy, but having past the first ten level ups, things get more difficult.

  • Level 1: set up the blog
  • Level 2: Publishing the first review
  • Level 3: Getting the first views from readers through search engines
  • Level 4: Publish 5 reviews
  • Level 5: Publish 20 reviews
  • Level 6: every day a hit – constant traffic
  • Level 7: first follower
  • Level 8: Publish 50 reviews
  • Level 9: 5 views daily
  • Level 10: Publish a guest review
  • Level 11: Schedule a review
  • Level 12: Attract a pingback
  • Level 13: 50 ARC Reviews
  • Level 14: 500 Likes
  • Level 15: 600 Posts
  • Level 16: 1000 Likes
  • Level 17: One is fine, two is better
  • Level 18: Be elite
  • Level 19: Reblogged
  • Level 20: 100 Followers
  • Level 21: 750 posts

My last Level up! 100 Followers has been just weeks ago, the blog is on a roll.

To celebrate this, I’ve re-read the Cyberpunk defining SF classic Newromancer by William Gibson – the first time since 33 years.

In February, I pledged to read a story every day and write a review for it. A 500 post milestone was reached in May, and 600 posts were accompanied at 22.08.2020 with a review of Ursula Le Guin’s Earthsea novella The Finder. Since then, the average posting frequency has been consistently over one post daily.

Now, tell me: do you feel spammed?

This blog started with my frustration of GoodRead’s handling of short stories. I wanted to review each one, but longer anthologies didn’t allow that, because reviews are limited in size. Also, short story entries were deleted by fellow librarians, simply deleted with all their comments. Bad, isn’t it? Well, I don’t hate GR but found a solution by setting up this blog.

Then I found Netgalley, and the blog came in handy, because publishers like to see your own blog as a reviewer. I’ve only posted short story and anthology reviews then, but now started to review the novel ARCs here as well.

Since this year, the blog is my main site for reviews, and I post everything I have primarily here.

What began as a reminder for myself, because I forgot at the end of an anthology what I read at the start of it, keeps on thriving and now finds a lot of comments and likes.
Thank you for your support 🙂

      Serious fun, indeed.
The good thing with leveling is that I can invent yet another level whenever I feel the need for some positive confirmation. 👍
Let’s see what and when the next one will be!
