Review Policy
This blog is dedicated to reviewing mostly short stories and selected books in the field of speculative fiction.
A story a day keeps the boredom away.
In some years, I read heavily and review accordingly. In others, I sink into video games, into work, binge Netflix, or do nothing at all.
Expect honest reviews from me: I don’t get paid for reviews, and I’ll handle ARCs (advanced reading copies) as if I would have bought the title. Unsolicited ARCs are not welcomed, as I’m selective with my reading plan.
My reviews will spoil, and I don’t mark spoilers.
My reading preferences are literary fiction that makes me think and lasts longer than the last page. But nothing speaks against a juicy, popcorn action prose from time to time. I don’t like romance, horror, and mystery stories. Favorite authors are:
- J.R.R. Tolkien (Aurë entuluva)
- Ursula K. Le Guin (EarthSea and Hainish)
- Frank Herbert (Dune)
- Kim Stanley Robinson (Hard SF)
- Harlan Ellison (Crazy titled stories)
- Roger Zelazny (Crazy titled stories)
- Brandon Sanderson (oooooh, those doorstoppers)
- Neal Stephenson
Star Rating
1 ★: Did not like it
2 ★★: It was okay
3 ★★★: Enjoyed it
4 ★★★★: Very good
5 ★★★★★: Amazing, re-read material
I use half stars, as well. Good books will get ★★★, with average rating is somewhere between ★★★ and ★★★★.
Other bookish interests
You read that far? Fine, then you might want to know that I read not only speculative fiction, but also technical non fiction books in the area of Computer Science. You find some of my reviews at my other blog “Look a book“.
You can also find me at Goodreads.

Thanks for bringing this up. I somehow removed it from the menu configuration – but that must have been 1-2 years ago.
