Today is my cake day, and I got me some phat loot. Two new Tolkien books!
- The Nature of Middle Earth (which has just been published), the violet binding and
- Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the spring green binding
I had to reorder my library to provide those two beauties a proper place. Which meant a full new shelf in this case, shuffling some books around.

Looking great, Andreas! I’m curious about Tolkien’s version of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. I’ve read the original middle English version and Simon Armitage’s excellent alliterative modern version. I’d love to see a review of J.R.R.T’s version from you. 🙂👍

Those are the „Hither Shore“ books, the proceedings of German Tolkien Society‘s annual conference (I‘m a member). There are titles like „Tolkien and Romanticism“, „Literary Worldbuilding“, or „Tolkien’s Philosophy of Language“. All in German.

Editor is Carl Hostetter. It’s the first book to be published after Christopher passed away two years ago. The last one by Christopher is the Fall of Gondolin (which I’m currently reading).
