Meta: Originally published in Solaris Rising 1.5, I read it in The Year’s Best Science Fiction: Thirtieth Annual Collection
A contemporary physics team is about to win the Nobel Prize when they talk to Tessimond and quit their job to do things they always wanted to do. Adam Roberts gave a direct link to Asimov’s „Nightfall“ and this story is just a lame variant of it. It is a kind of over-long joke about some crazy physic hypothesis which is revealed at the very end.
I never liked that kind of story but Asimov fans might very well like it.
